Overview
The Dickow SC is a heavy duty, self-priming, horizontal side channel pump with one or more stages, for clean liquids without solids. A side channel pump builds high differential head even at low speed. At low flows and high heads, it runs more economically than a normal centrifugal pump. After an initial fill, the SC can prime empty suction lines before start-up.
Key specs (Dickow bulletin): a PN40 design, with flanges and casings rated for 40 bar working pressure. Higher pressures are available on request. Standard maximum operating temperature is 180°C (356°F), and special designs are available for higher temperatures. With Ex motors, it can be used in hazardous areas.
Design: end suction and vertical discharge. A centrifugal suction impeller with an enlarged eye gives low NPSH. With boiling liquids, the required suction liquid level can drop to about 50% of the listed NPSH values. SiC rings in the discs and impeller hub prevent metal-to-metal contact and seizing. The retaining-stage diffuser keeps liquid in the pump for restart.
Standard materials: casings and discs in ductile iron GGG40.3 or 1.4408 stainless. Side channel impellers in 1.4457. Shaft in 1.4021 or 1.4571. SiC-coated slide bearings and shaft sleeves.
Uses: low flow, high head, suction lift and tank unloading duties in chemical and petrochemical plants. A sealless version, the SCM, is available.
