Overview

The Dickow NMW and NMWR are sealless, magnetic coupled hot oil circulation pumps for industrial heating plants. A static containment shell forms a closed system with a hermetically sealed liquid end, so the pump needs no mechanical seal and no utility cooling. In a conventional pump, the same service would need double mechanical seals.

How it handles heat: the NMW design has no internal circulation, and the magnet end is dead-ended. That keeps hot thermal oil away from the magnets and lets the pump run at temperatures up to 400°C (750°F). Dickow's NML/NMB bulletin names the NMR/NMWR types as the choice when temperatures go above the standard NML/NMB limits.

Construction: like the NM family, these are single stage centrifugal pumps with a cobalt samarium magnetic coupling that drives the impeller directly through the containment shell. The magnets in the driven rotor are fully encapsulated and do not contact the liquid.

Why it matters: removing the seal eliminates the most common cause of pump failure and leakage. It also removes the seal support system and its upkeep, which improves plant and personnel safety around hot oil.

Uses: thermal oil circulation in industrial heating plants, chemical and petrochemical plants and refineries.

APPLICATIONS

The magnetic driven NMW and NMWR pumps are designed for hot oil applications, to improve plant and personnel safety in industrial heating plants. Mechanical seals are eliminated. No utility cooling needed. In these cases, double mechanical seals are required in conventional pumps.
